The legendary private island of Mustique might once have made headlines for its wild parties, royal residents and a-list celebrities, but today it’s the rare luxury of space, the discretion of a truly unspoilt island that are the draw for many.
Pristine white beaches, dazzling seas that ‘feel like you are swimming in champagne’ and verdant rolling hills abound in this tropical paradise that create the most restorative of settings. A place to retreat, relax and restore. Mustique comprises of 1400 acres and is a haven for nature and wildlife. There are just a hundred houses on the island, each of which is set within extensive grounds and designed in such a way to maximise on views and create the utmost privacy.
Perhaps the most unexpected thing for first time visitors to Mustique is what it doesn’t have. There are no supercars, no marina, no press intrusion, no pretentious glitz and that makes it a great leveller.
For those looking to celebrate, Mustique still knows how to party and alongside the island bars, Oceanus is ideally set up for hosting. Invite friends for drinks or dinner, entertain on a grand scale or book yourself in for a couple of weeks of total seclusion.
Mustique has always been the island where dreams are made real. We look forward to welcoming you.
secluded beaches and crystal-clear turquoise seas
Magical serene lagoons, wild stretches of windswept Atlantic coastline and acres and acres of the most mesmerising azure blue seas. Coral reefs provide ample opportunities for snorkelling or swimming alongside sea turtles. Watersports are available at the Cotton House for the actively inclined or simply soak up those wonderful views.
enjoy a beach banquet like never before
Beach banquets (often referred to as ‘Picnics) on Mustique are an institution, with not a sand-sandwich in sight. Instead, elegant dishes will be prepared by your private chef, served at a beautifully laid table with your butler on hand to ensure the utmost comfort for your party. Soak up the beautiful sights and sounds of the sea whilst seated in comfort and sheltered from the sunshine.
“The waves come over the coral making the water frothy in the shallows, so it feels like swimming in champagne.”
— Lady Anne Glenconner
kick back in great company
If you’re here to socialise, there are plenty of opportunities to party in style. From the world-famous Jump Up and Sunset Sessions at Basil’s Bar to the Tuesday cocktails at the Cotton House attended by most of the residents on the island, there is always an opportunity to connect and socialise if you’d like.
Of course, we might be biased but we love nothing more than to enjoy a sundowner at our own private bar overlooking Britannia Bay - why not invite a few friends over and create the party yourselves?
nature and sustainability
Wildlife abounds in Mustique and what is perhaps most striking about the island is how utterly unspoilt it is. You’ll really have the chance to get up close and personal with nature and feel deeply rested and rejuvenated from your time on the island.
Sustainability is a key focus for all of us on the island and there are a number of projects actively prioritising the wellbeing of this magical piece of land, from our renewable energy systems to the coral regeneration project.
be as active as you’d like
For those wishing to keep up their fitness (or work off the excesses from the night before) there are plenty of opportunities to stay active. The island has 6 shared floodlit tennis courts, an equestrian centre and a fitness trail.
Oceanus guests have full access to the air conditioned gym and studio classes at the Cotton House spa during their stay. Enjoy a sun-salutation at the beachside yoga pavillion or ask your butler to arrange for personal training sessions at the house.
spa treatments
You’ll find a dedicated spa at The Cotton House with four treatment rooms offering delightful Bamford rituals.
Should you prefer, your Butler can also arrange for a therapist to visit the house and offer you an in-room treatment.
